Professional Experience
Francesco Maiorana is an instructor of computer science at Kansas State University. He is also a Scientix ambassador and CoderDojo champion. He had previously been an Italian adjunct computer science (CS) / information technology (IT) professor in the department of education, University of Catania. From 1994 to 2019, he was a high school CS/IT teacher.

 He is a member of the ACM Society, ACM Special Interest Groups on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE), Accessibility (SIGACCESS), Computer and Society (SIGCAS), Association of Teachers Education in Europe (ATEE), Associazione Italiana Calcolo Automatico (AICA), British Educational Research Association (BERA), Computing At School (CAS), Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), IEEE and theIEEE Education Society.

His research activity has spanned the following fields:

1) computer science education

2) data mining

3) education technology

4) medical Informatics

Academic Highlights
During his time of professional experience, Maiorana haspublished more than 60 refereed publications in international journals and conferences, the first one in 2004. According to Google Scholar, he has an H-index of 12 and an i10-index of 15. He served as an adjunct instructor and researcher in the department of engineering at the University of Catania from 2002 to 2015, where he co-graduated more than 20 master’s students.
