Ph.D. Transfer Policy

Effective January 2019

Effective January 1, 2019 it is the policy of the computer science department that students in the
PhD program who have received any substantial financial support from Kansas State University as
a PhD student cannot transfer into the Master of Science in Computer Science (MS) or Master of
Software Engineering (MSE) programs unless the student explicitly petitions the CS Graduate
Studies Committee to transfer to the MS/MSE program and that petition is approved by the both
the committee and the department head.

Substantial financial support includes fellowships, GTAs, GRAs, and tuition and fee waivers, but
does not include smaller amounts such as reimbursements for travel or expenses.
